By now, chances are you have heard of Bookcrossing.com.  If you haven't, well, here is the low-down, in a nutshell.  We "bookcrossers" believe that the whole world should be a library, and we strive to make the world a better place, one book at a time.

The principal is pretty basic actually.  You like to read, actually you LOVE to read, so you find this site, and sign up as a member (free, mind you).  After signing up, you go through your book collection, and start registering all (or nearly all) of your books.  If you've read the book, then it's ready to be "released" into the wild.  You may give it to a friend, leave it on a park bench, phone booth, doctor's office, the world is the limit.  You have stickers identifying that the book is free and giving an id number.  People find your books and hopefully visit the website, enter that number, and leave a journal entry showing that they found the book.  Sounds great, huh?

Ok, now I know that many of you booklovers out there are probably thinking just what I thought when I first heard of the site:  "WHAT??  GIVE my precious BOOKS away?"  Trust me, I know what you're feeling.  I was the same way.  That actually kept me away from BC for quite some time.  But then, my friend SJ Gaither and I started a book trading list, Horrortrades (an offshoot from my favorite list, Horrorlit.   The new list was an instant hit, and more and more members kept pushing Bookcrossing.  I finally decided to give it a try.  I signed up, then started registering a few books.  Then after internal warfare, I finally released my first book, Servants of Chaos, clandestinely leaving it on top of a 7-11 phone booth!  I was HOOKED!  From that moment, my "book greed" ended and I have since registered nearly all of my books (mind you, over 300 are books I have yet to read), and release books all the time now.

So there it is, as short as my wordy self can put it.  Above are the pages I have created dedicated to my new obsession and "way of life".
