Clegg's The Hour Before Dark has got to be one of my top reads for 2003! What an awesome tale! This is the story of a man returning home after the brutal murder of his father. While he, his brother, and sister try to piece together just what happened to their father, many skeletons are dug up from their past. Clegg really outdid himself with this tale. I was thrilled with the family dynamics, and kept tense with what was always lurking around the corner. I believe this book crossed genres. It is a bit of a horror tale, bit of a ghost story, bit of a mystery, and bit of a family dynamic novel. A work of art whichever way you look at it. HIGHLY recommend this one!
